Chemical Reactions can be FAST or SLOW and there are four main factors which affect the rate of reactions

The FOUR Factors that affect chemical reaction are as follows:

TEMPERATURE - hotter means faster because the molecules have more thermal energy.

CONCENTRATION - the more concentrated the reactant, then the reaction moves faster! (strong acid will react faster than weak acid)

SURFACE AREA - if you chop the reactant in smaller pieces, you increase the surface area and the reaction goes faster!  

CATALYST - add a catalyst like liver enzyme, (remember our experiment with raw liver?) and the reaction goes faster! 

We saw an example of this in the DRY ICE experiment you recently did! (picture below )Remember when we put hot water with the dry ice? The carbon dioxide came pouring out fast!

10 marks

Your one page summary is complete and covers all the ideas  beautifully communicated.  your work is in the form of a drawing, and it is inked, in colour  OR a podcast, OR a poem OR a SONG or any creative format which you can propose to me.

9-10/10.    This assignment is brilliant and stands out. it is very creative and covers all the important vocab words. it is clear.  If it is a drawing, it is inked and in colour

7-8/10.  This assignment is amazing and it is so creative!  it may be missing one or two concepts or vocab words. if it is a drawing it is very artistic and inked and in colour

6/10.  This assignment is a written summary of the concepts.  It is not a drawing or a poem but it is simply a write up in pencil. it is accurate and correct.

0-5.  This assignment is a pretty good start,. At this time, it is a draft and requires more time to make it complete.
