Electromagnetic scavenger hunt

Today we learned about the electromagnetic spectrum.  Within your group, find the following & take a picture with a sign labeling what you found. Put this together in a power point and hand it in through TEAMS.  YOUR PIC MUST HAVE THE SIGN IN IT!!

1.  A wave slower than infrared waves and faster than radio waves

2.   Living things that have 7 colours of the visible spectrum (Can be 7 people)

3.   Americium

4.   Someone who got radiation *on purpose *  and the radiation has a slower wavelenth than UV

5.  Someone with something that *filters* UV light

6.  a radioactive food

7.  Someone who has had radiation on purpose & the radiation has a faster wavelength than UV

Nuclear fission reactions

Here are the Fusion and Fission notes

I gave you a worksheet called 7.3 Nuclear Reactions, the answer key to that is here
There is also the Radioactive unit exam study guide  and Answer key

Calculating Einstein's Equation: Fission reaction

In the nuclear reaction shown, a neutron (moving with negligible kinetic energy) hits a Uranium-235 nucleus. The resulting unstable nucleus fissions into Krypton-92, Barium-141, and three neutrons.

Data:
Uranium-235 mass: 390.300x10^-27 kg
Krypton-92 mass: 152.647x10^-27 kg
Barium-141 mass: 233.994x10^-27 kg
Neutron mass: 1.675x10^-27 kg

a) What is the total mass of the pieces going into the reaction?
b) What is the total mass of the pieces coming out of the reaction?
Calculate the mass difference

Acid and Base Study Questions

Here are some notes and study questions on Acids and Bases.  I have this worksheet in class for you to do.  Have a read through and do this worksheet in class

Rates of Reaction lab

  Read the following notes

Assignment : Do the study questions, put your name on it and photograph it.   Answer key is here.

You will be doing a simple two beaker experiment to observe rates of reaction.

Universal indicator Rainbows

We used universal indicator, a known acid and a known base to create as many pHs as possible.

RED WINE/WHITE WINE LAB REPORT

I invited you to a fancy French restaurant and served you "red wine or white wine"...

Do an experiment with some unknown chemicals.  Write up your experiment in a lab report. Use your knowledge from the Acids and Bases notes to deduce what happened during our little magic trick.  Write up your experiment.

You will include data from  spot plate labs
